A Night to Shine: A Spherexx Employee Story

A Chance to Serve Those the World Often Overloooks

On February 9th, hundreds of guests and volunteers will be welcomed into the Marriott Tulsa Hotel in Southern Hills for Night to Shine, a prom for people with special needs (ages 14 and up). These special guests experience the full VIP treatment with limo rides, dinner, dancing, photo portraits, and a red carpet. Night to Shine is put on by churches around the world who partner with the Tim Tebow Foundation. Every man receives a crown and every woman a tiara, the vision being to provide every guest with a night they will never forget.

Every person has a different reason for choosing to be a part of this event, but for Spherexx employee Brianne, she saw it as a chance to serve those that she felt like the world often overlooks.

“Night to Shine is a night that celebrates these people. When I first saw the promo videos, it sounded like a wonderful opportunity to serve and be part of something unique,” says Brianne. “The first year I participated, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was amazing! The night is filled with so much laughter, dancing, limo rides, and the biggest smiles you’ll ever see!”

For Brianne, not only has she been moved by the opportunity to serve, but these events have taught her what she considers to be one of the most important lessons and reminders in her own life.

“This special night reminds me to embrace the things that make each of us unique,” she says. “Each special guest is crowned prom king and prom queen and are told how much God loves them just the way they are. It reminds me that it’s okay not to fit in with the world’s definition of normal.”

This will be Brianne’s third year serving at Night to Shine, and she couldn’t be more excited.

This year she will serving as a buddy, which is one of the most important jobs at the prom. Buddies are responsible for being the host for one of the guests, showing them around, taking pictures with them, and dancing! Her favorite memory, so far, happened at last year’s event, where a couple that attended as specials guests got engaged in the middle of the dance floor.

This year’s Night to Shine event will hosted by The Assembly in Broken Arrow, with hundreds of volunteers donating their time and resources. It is shaping up to be the largest in Tulsa yet, with the event already reaching capacity for guest registrations. Brianne is currently a Client Success Account Manager with Spherexx. Just as Spherexx promotes Servant Leadership as one of the company’s core values, Brianne believes that it is an honor and privilege to serve others, along with reminding them that they are valuable, loved, and not overlooked.
